Enabling Free SSL with Let's Encrypt AutoSSL

4 views · Practical guide from HostVyx Support

Every HostVyx hosting plan includes free SSL certificates via Let's Encrypt AutoSSL. Here's how to enable it.

Enable AutoSSL in Virtualmin
  1. Log in to Virtualmin
  2. Click SSL Certificate in the left sidebar
  3. Select Let's Encrypt tab
  4. Click Request Certificate
  5. Virtualmin will automatically obtain and install the certificate
Automatic Renewal

Let's Encrypt certificates are valid for 90 days. Virtualmin automatically renews them before expiry, so no manual intervention is needed once set up.

Verifying SSL

After installation, visit https://yourdomain.co.za and check the padlock icon in your browser. You can also use online SSL checkers to verify the certificate chain.

Custom SSL Certificates

If you prefer a paid SSL certificate (e.g., OV or EV certificates), you can upload it through the same SSL Certificate section in Virtualmin.
